Well, it is not easy to describe, but I will try my best:
04 V8 4WD, 100K
It is not a permenant problem. Sometime, when I make turns, one wheel may slip a little bit, the problem may occure; Sometiem, when I drive, passed a bump, the problem may occure.

When the problem comes, you will not feel any different unless you step on the pedal and gave gas to the car. Whenever you push the gas pedal, you can feel some vibration from the pedal. And also the abnormal noise comes with it.

Recently, I changed the front ball joints and cv boots. I donot think they are related. But I had a problem. One bolt that hold the rear differential is broken when I drove. It just happend right after 2 days when I bought this used car!!!! It may break the gear. But when I replace the bolt and differential oil, everything looks fine.

I think it may come from the Drive shaft or wheel bearing, etc.

Any comments are welcome. Thank you so much~~~~~~

I would add that the problem is really not quite often. It is like once in 10 days or 2 week? I am not sure. But I just want to know what's wrong with it.

And also, even if I stopped the car, and re-accel it, the noise/vibration is still there. The only way to get rid of it is to turn off the engine and restart. Everything will get normal.

When I would accelerate from a stop when turning, the rearend would "shudder." Changed the rear differential fluid and added friction modifier(needed if you have a LS) and that cured the problem. I actually used a little thicker oil, 85W 140 in the rear.

Since you have an '02 V8 4x4, I bet you have a 3.73LS. They are notorious for whinning and shuddering. Hope this helps a little:D

Thanks for your reply. In fact, I just changed the oil right after I got my X. Yes, Mobile 1 75-140 + friction modifier. It is only 3k mile after my change.
