1997 Ford Explorer 2 Door
I'm sure this question has come up before with other explorer owners, but I was wondering if there was a quick/cheap/safe/solid rear lift that I could put on my explorer myself. It's a 97 2 door sport, 4x4, and as we all know, the rear ends of explorers just sit too low. I'm upgrading my tires pretty soon and I want the rear end to be sitting at least an inch or two higher than it is now, and want to know who has the cheap and safe solution?

Let me know, I'm not too experienced with working on cars, but I know people who are that could help if it required some skill. Let me know guys, thanks!

Awesome, and how long have you had yours? About how much of a lift did it give you, and does it mess with any of your other suspension components/driveshaft/gas mileage like a lift might?

Just a couple of days. Maybe an inch cause it flattened out my leafs. There 15 years old and mono leafs.thw only downflaw is its a bit more wobblier than before.but I am getting ready to change the shocks this Sunday and I think that will make it better

I wouldn't suggest shackles, if you're gonna do them then get the warrior shackles.
Use the search function, LOTS of threads on this

Your first move should be installing the leaf packs from a 4-door. If you're wanting to add some more lift you could also sandwich an add a leaf in those packs as well.

This is what I did. Greatly improve ride quality and stability as well as leveled it out.

So should I just go pick some up at the junkyard or is there somewhere else I can get that for cheap?

My Sport was amazing with the 4 door pack. Best handling SUV I've ever owned.

Yea. I'd get as new as you can with as few miles as you can.

I got mine from an auto salvage place, already pulled. I had no idea how saggy they were but they came from a 99 or 00 with 90k miles. There are different spring codes for stiffness as well.
