Check that capslock isn't on first.

Does it really matter if the caps lock button is on????? All I wanted was an answer to my problem. I accidentally hit the caps lock button.

it sounds like your auto hub is shot:(

Yep, sounds like another cooked auto hub. Really common problem. Best bet is to replace them with manuals.

Sounds like the auto hub isn't fully disengaging or engaging, I've seen it before on a friends explr and thats what it doesn't. worst case is you need new hubs, but it could be you just need them serviced. Especially if you wheel allot of use your 4x4 often, they need to be greased and checked every once in awhile. Have them serviced if it's been awhile is my advice. Just tel the shop you want regular mx done to the hubs and don't tell them that you hear sounds. Then if it's a good shop they will tell you if it is broken, and hope they aren't.

oh also, if you are having this problem right now, don't disengage the 4x4 or engage is while moving until they get serviced! Come to a complete stop before hitting the 4x4 button untill you get the problem fixed other wise you may be putting stress on a system that may be wanting to give up soon

Look like it's time for some new Manual hubs. Easy conversion, there's a thread on how to do it.

It right here
