help! 4x4 problem

help!

my light on the dash where it reads "4x4" and "low range" does not work. I can not seem to get the 4x4 to turn on. is the light the problem or is it something else.

You posted this in the General Polls section so your response will probably be nil. Is there any clicking sounds as you play with the switch? Fuses all good?

No there is no clicking

Its your transfer case actuator motor. Go Dead Link Removed or get a cheap one from a junk yard and swap it in.

Mod - switch this to 911 or General so the guy can get some more help.

i moved this to driveline for you and added more to your title. if you start a thread that just says 'help!' many people will not even click on it. i have no clue why i decided to this time. just a friendly tip... short description in the title will get you more hits.

when i bought my ex the 4x4 didn't work and i went to the ford garage and a friend of mine that worked there told me to try one of two things. check the box behind the cover where the jack is. there is a box back there that has a white reset switch try that. if that doesn't do it...... get under the car....with someone in the car and the car running hit the 4x4 button... when the person pushes the button tap the shifter motor with a rubber malllet. i did this and it works fine to this day. my friend at the ford garage said that if it doesn't get much use it will stick in a position. to prevent this from happpening, use the 4x4 one a month for like 2 mins. it will keep it working when you need it. if neither of these work your motor could be shot but don't just go throwing parts at it. investigate. lol
