I'm even having backfiring at speeds of 40-50?

if you go through this thread there are some things to try, the guys here have been great with help. check some of them out

Current DTC?

ok here we go again replaced IAC, MAF,TPS,CPS,COILPACKS,PLUGS WIRES,PLUGS,FUEL FILTER, and still not fixed still has a mis and rough idle. here is the wierd thing after replacing the coil packs and cps and new wires (i did all at the same time) i hooked the battery back up and it ran like new for 5 miles then out of nowhere it started the mis and rough idle again. maybe replace the ecm??????? please help im at my witts end and ready to part with it. ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT

I doubt it's the PCM. What are your current diagnostic trouble codes?

Is your exhaust black indicating a rich mixture?

Does your temperature gauge read normal after a few minutes of driving? You could have a stuck open thermostat.

Your engine coolant temperature sensor could be bad. It's in addition to the temperature sender for the instrument panel temperature gauge.

You may have a sticking EGR valve. If so, there should be an associated code set.

i had it on the computer and all it said was misfire on cyl 5. so i changed the plugs and wires again. the mixture does smell rich. after a few minutes of driving the temp is fine. i am going to change the cts.

You wouldn't by any chance have a bad exhaust donut or a crack in the exhaust manifold would you?
