Hello, and thanks for all your help!! I have a 95 X ohv

I installed an infinity basslink 10" sub yesterday, all fuses fine, 10 gauge wiring, and everything grounded. Everything was working fine and it has been sounding great!!.......BUT today while i was trying to start my car i got a grind sound (the starter) for 1/4 of a second and after that the car would not do anything. I then thought it was a loose or gritty battery terminal, so i cleaned it off with baking soda and water, then i tried again and my dad said the positive battery terminal was smoking. So he told me to take off the sub's power wire and then try to start it. I did just that and she started right up! how can i get my sub working again?? the wiring came with a 30A fuse that i installed right after the battery but it calls for a 25A Could that be it? also the ring on the terminal is developing a crack, probably because i overtightened it but could these things be why my sub won't work with my X. Could the battery not be giving enough?

thanks so much everyone!!

I would run a 25 if that's what it calls for. Otherwise, it could fry something for having over 25A instead of simply blowing a fuse. What are the specs on your battery? CCA, etc.

thanks bmx king.

The battery's cranking amps at 32 deg. is 1050
It's cold cranking amps at 0 deg. is 850
Reserve cap. is 150

Sounds to me like you killed your battery... The fuse to the amp would have nothing to do with it.

I've got that sub in my Explorer... Love it!!

ok well i soldered all the wires to make sure ive got a good connection everywhere. should i also re-locate the ground wire ( i don't know if connected under a screw that first goes into plastic then through the floorboard works) I don't know if that would have anything to do with this but there just aren't very many good places.? im gonna put it all back together when the sun comes back out so we will see.

Any other reccommendations or fixes to my problem guys? thanks so much
