Help, buying body lift for 99 4dr have questions

I will most likely buy the tires from Discount. The manager said that it wasn't the stores policy not to mount anything other than factory equipment, but that it came directly from Ford. I'm not sure how that works though?

What are you guys that are running 32s or 33s doing for a spare tire mount? I plan on having a custom rear tire carrier/bumper made, but what can I use for now?

my full size spare is on the roof just tied down. when i go on a run, i put it in the cargo area, tied down. i wan't as little weight up there as possible.

There is no way I could have fit these tires without cutting the metal. They weren't just rubbing , they were getting hung up on it. I have the 3.75 backspacing. Its all good now. I cut a nice chunk off and no more rubbing. I'll post a pic later when it is daylight for a good picture.

my spare is in the shead! i'm screwed if i get a flat! that's the rist i take. i think if i go on a trail i'll trow the spair on the roof.

I just had Discount test fit a 33x12.5, it looks like I'm going to have to trim a little plastic on the rear of the fender well, exactly like the picture Yomie posted earlier. Which isn't going to be a problem. Now I just need to come up with the $$$ to but the tires.

By the way, I'm collecting donations for the "Tires for David Fund". Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. I will accept cash, check, Visa, and Mastercard.
Sorry no American Express. :D :chug:

This is strange...why did mine require so much trimming and no one elses did?

Thats about how much I had to trim. Did you do the full 2" TT? I only did 1.5" so it settled to almost 1". Just a suggestion, fill in the area with spray foam. You will get mud and crap up in the door hinges if you don't and it is a pain to clean out.

Damn thats alot of cuttin

Splash, you already got that spare at your place in ILL?

i didn't have to do that much either! all my trimming was plastic so far. i have a lot more trimming on the passenger side too though. i have to test it on my homemade ramp tomorrow under full compression to be sure. i have about 1.25" TT

good call on the spray foam splashman!

Yomie, it is sitting in the shed in the back yard right now...

That foam is some great stuff, I filled the whole gap up with it and after it set all I had to do was cut it even with the body. A can of black paint and you can't even tell that there was ever a hole there.

i got to cut more tomorrow and the spray foam is a great idea! i'll do that!

hopefully i don't have to cut till the metal. if i do will it hurt anything?

is there any spray foam n particular that i should use? like something made for automotive or can i use the spray foam that you use in joints in the basement and such?

I used the basement stuff. On a side note, this is the second winter I have gone through with the foam there and the salt don't seem to be eating it or anything. The nice thing about the foam is you can always cut it out if you decide to change something. Do make sure it is completely clean and dry before you spray the foam in though.

cool.. thanks splashman. i'll be doing that this weekend.

I had already thought asbout the spray in foam. I just didn't know if it was paintable or not. I was also thinking of bondo..but the foam will be much easier. I have some molding like strips that I am going to run down the sides to cover up the holes left over from removing the trim at the bottom to make it look clean.

For guys with the BL... did you just scrap the idea of using your factory spare location b/c the hole for the crank and the lowering mechanism don't line up anymore.. Do you know if anyone has been able to jerry rig something to still be able to use the factory spare location?
