I had my computer checked... and it says I need a new DPFE sensor. First off, what the heck is a DPFE sensor? And, does anyone know where I can get one?

DPFE = Differential Pressure Feedback EGR Sensor.

What motor do you have?

I can't remember what it stands for but it is part of the EGR system. You should be able to pick one up at any parts store.

I have been driving mine for 2 years now with a low EGR voltage code with no problems but where I live they don't have emissions inspetions :D

I'll get to it one of these days.

Ok its a mounty so I assume v-8

Look on the passenger side exhaust manifold, for a 1/2" tube going up to throttle area. There are 2 rubber lines (look like vaccuum lines) going off of it to the DPFE sensor. Check those hoses REAL GOOD. Don't just look, get them off and check for cracking. Now look at the dpfe sensor connection area. It will sometimes melt. Take off the egr valve and clean it out good( could be sticking. Check the vaccuum lines going to the egr solenoid ( trace small vaccum line from egr valve to the solenoid for location) for leaks.
Also, an egr code can come from the COMMON ( on v-8 ) cracked header problem( exhaust leak, common on passenger side which is coincidently the egr side) low eaxhuast flow can trigger a low egr pulse. The dpfe sensor senses for differential between the 2 reference tubes. When the egr valve is opened- the pulses change. There is a small orifice located in the egr tube, between the two reference line tubes, giving the pressure differential.

In any event, with an egr code ( or any other for that matter) you are not getting full fuel efficiency from your engine.

Hope this helps you guys a bit.
