I have a 2004 Explorer Limited with the rear heat and air controls by the sunroof, and duel zone front.

I have noticed more and more that when I leave the exterior temp button on and shut the car off and come back later, sometimes the ext temp is on, and other times its off; I cannot fingure out the pattern. This also happens with my heater setting. I will leave it on a setting, hoping that it will stay that way when I am back. sometimes it does, sometimes not.

Also, a few times recently when cold, I go into the "test mode" that others have written about where it cycles through all of the electronic systems. The other day, I started the car and the Advance Trac warning came on, turned the car and off and back off and all was fine again.

I am wondering if my BCM or battery may be shot. IDEAS?

Thanks.

This are a classic symptoms of a weak battery. A new battery should fix all of your problems.
