Thats a new battery? Doesn't sound like it. Was the battery fully charged? When you buy them new they are not charged, they just dump the elctrolyte in there. You have to charge it for a good hour or so before you use it. If you have a dead battery, and get a "new" battery, make sure the store fully charges it before you put it in the truck. (13.6 volts or so) Don't think the alternator is going to put the full charge in there for you. The result of that will be burned diodes in your alternator, and you will be buying a new one. Been there, done it.

That's a dead battery.

I suggest that you siphon all of the fuel out of the tank, change the fuel filter, add 1/2 tank of new fuel and a bottle of fuel injector cleaner before you start the engine.

X2 what he said.
I might add; change the engine oil and filter before starting it too.
Might want to check the air filter box, if you find what appears to be a nest, look at the filter media, if it is breached, start looking in the intake tube for dead mice. Seen it alot.

on the last attempt to start I hear an electrical ARC, listen closely.

I would suggest changing the battery terminals and wires, maybe looking at the starter connections too for corrosion

BTW I actually had a mouse eat through my air filter once, thats when I bought a K&N, mice cant get in it
