Help.....FM stations do not work?

I have a 1996 Ford explorer Eddie Bauer with the JBL sound system. ever since i bought the truck last year, i have had the problem that my FM radio does not work...i have to crank the volume all the way to hear somthing but yet, my AM stations seem to work just fine at normal volume levels. all this time i have been playing CD or listening to the News on AM dial. i was told it could be a modual or something in the rear panel...one thing that i did try, i poped the radio out and check to see what was the problem maybe a connection or somthing with no luck, i also tried swaping my friends radio which he also has a 1996 explorer with jbl system. and still no luck..i want to be able to use listen to FM stations...is there a place that can fix this or is there a place where i can buy and replace whatever seems to be defected???

if his radio didnt work on fm and both am work, im willing to bet your antenna is broken or damaged... am uses differnt frequency range and is normally picked up easier than fm, but with less quality as that is the nature of am band

hmmm....it doesnt seem like a reception problem or anything...just the sound level is too low as if it was muted......if there was a problem with the antenna would'nt there be a sound of distortion or somthing......i can hear the stattion but vaguely
