Hope somebody can help me with this,
I searched it and couldnt really find anything I understood.
Well to make a long story short,
I got rear ended about a month ago and my bumper was bent down a little bit,
So today I got bored and decided to throw the floor jack under there to see if I could straighten it out.
When I lifted up the back of my X I noticed there was a bunch of gear oil on the outside of the cover of the is that the differential?
Im not good with that kind of stuff.

I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction to some pictures or something of how to put a new seal/gasket on it and how to add more oil to it and what kind I should get?

Thanks much guys,
you already saved me,
the other day my X kept stalling and wouldnt idle and I got on here and looked it up,
cleaned out my IAC really good with some intake and throttle body cleaner and she's running better than ever.

More than likely you just need to reseal the 8.8. Go the parts store get a gasket & rtv silicone, some 80w90 or 75w140 and friction modifier if you have a limited slip rear end. Remove cover (place a drain pan below differential), clean cover and differential of any prior gasket or rtv adhesive. Inspect cover for any damage. Place a bead of rtv on the differential around the outside permiter where it mates to the cover. Also place a bead of rtv around the cover and then place the gasket on the differential cover and mate back to the differential and torque down to 28 to 38 ft lbs. Then refill differential with fluids about 5.5 to 5.8 pints.

Pull the cover and drain old oil. Then clean both mating surfaces, apply RTV and reattach, fill with fluid, And the it should be leak free.

How do I put the fluid in there?

...there is a fill plug on the front driverside about 3/4 of the way up...;)

Pull the fill plug BEFORE you pull the pan.

The fill plug can be a bear to get out if it has never been out and you don't want to have the Diff empty and not be able to get the fill plug out.
