Help lifting an 01 sport

Some people say it matters and some people say it doesnt...imo it matters. You can drill a hole and pop in a grade 8 boltsa and nut to hold them together. Yoiu have a breaker bar right? Oh and have a spare 18mm socket....you drop one somewhere in fornt of the rear axle...the bolt under the rear seat if im not mistakin. Make sure you unhook the fan shroud before you do anything. Also when you got the body lift installed, bend the center radiator mounts up while having a friend holding the rad. Then drop it and put those drop down brackets on.

I don't know, guess I wont be able to find out today anyways, still waiting on the directions for the body lift, gotta love the speed and service of the USPS.

Did you get the shackles put on your truck? I am thinking about putting a set on from autozone, just went and looked at mine and they are starting to flake rust. Only problem is I don't have a welder to put a brace on them, Will that matter?

-Rich
It depends.....if you are really hard core off-road look into the warrior ones.......right now the shackels are not on yet.....i got up lik an hour ago...lol(crazy night :D ) I am going to use the stock shackels and then put the auto zones on the outside and then just have the spring at the bottom. I found after mesuring that the stock shackels are 5.5 inches. The auto zones lowest hole is 5.5 inches so i am going to basiclly bolt the auto zones to the top through the stock shacklel. Then put a bolt through the bottom and then for the middle throw another bolt to really sure it up.....get the idea?.....ohh and i need to go get new grade8 bolts. Also i think the auto zones may already be 9/16ths

Will I be able to drill through the shackles with a regular power drill?

-Rich

with a corded drill it should be fine.

if they already have multiple holes then just utilize the exhisting holes. If no holes are present drill. Yes you can do this with a regular drill. Make a smaller pilot hole though then bring in the bigger bit.

I think so. The stock shackels would be attached at the top to the frame, then they autozone shackels bolted to the lowest hole on the stock shackles. Then attach the autozone shackles at the bottom to the spring. Confusing, right? But I think that is what you were trying to say.

shackels.jpg

Yeah, and thats what i was trying to say, although wouldn't it be better if the stock shackle was on the outside of the new shackles?

-Rich

it wouldnt fit.....baecause there is a brace on the stock shackels

My floor jack only goes up to 14 1/2" and I can't get the rear wheel off the ground, any suggestions? Trying to do this right now.

-Rich

put some wood on the head of the jack.

your going to need jack stands too.

I have jackstands, they go up to 21" so no prob there I got it jacked up, but when I try to break the nut loose the whole right axle just flexes. Do I need to put a wrench on the head of the bolt or will the nut just come lose since it looks like the bushing keeps the bolt from spinning. Any tips on how to break that damn nut loose? I saturated it in pblaster and nothing.

-Rich

let the truck rest on the ground and try breaking it loose(the bolts). Use a breaker bar.....they make a world of a difference.
