Can you really do that where you are? I can't even imagine the laughing that would take place if I called the police and asked them if they could come slim jim my truck!! That is the job of a locksmith, not a police officer.

lol - i called the campus police and they wont do it.

Cops around here use to carry Slim Jims in their Patrol Cars, but not the last several years. Now they will just call a locksmith for you.

Does it have power locks?...If so, can you get a coat hanger through the window and push the button?

Yes power locks- But i have no clue where to put the coat hanger

Is it possible to work it between the window glass and the door? Like right under the weatherstripping?

could also call a salvage yard, they sometimes keep slim jims in case they need to get into a car after towing it or whatever

lol - and how do i get to the salvage yard.

If you can get a wedge or something into the door jam, near the handle, you should be able to pry the door open just a little bit, enough to get a coat hanger in and push the button. Good Luck!

Good story... Char locked her keys in her car at work. She calls a locksmith to open the car. He uses a slimjim in the first door... no go, tries the second door, no go, back to the first door an voila.... So now Char grabs her keys locks the doors and goes back in to work. At the end of the day she tried to open the door... guess what... he knocked the rod off of BOTH door locks and the key wouldn't open up EITHER door:eek: Now it's time to call the lock guy back, who in turn calls a window glass shop who comes out to remove the back window! SHEESH!!!

oh man, have you been dealing with this all day? heh. heres hows you bend the coat hanger:

1) make it one long straight piece

2) you want to bend it into a letter "N", just like my pic.

3) hold it in the position i drew it in, and insert the whole thing down in between the glass and the weatherstripping, and get the bend that has the red and blue pieces joining below the bottom of the glass. now rotate the whole thing towards the inside of the truck. lift the whole thing up and the blue and red parts will be on the inside of the glass. work it and use the red part to hit the power locks.

its not an easy process to describe, but itll work. ive never done it on an explorer, but ive done it on other vehicles.

****, i forgot the pic, heh...

NOTE: im not taking any responsibility if you scratch the glass or break something in the door, or mess up the weatherstripping. you shouldnt have any problems, but just in case.

The coat hanger is not strong enough to use as a Wonder Tool. But on many Fords unless they have a blocking plate the easiest way to get in is to use a piece of wire stronger than a coat hanger and bend it in a tight J. Then insert it into the door next to the window, turn it and line it up under the lock knob that comes through your door panel. What you are trying to achieve is bringing the wire up next to the linkage and catching the underside of the lock knob. If you see the knob wiggle, you are close. When you are under the lip of the knob, lift and you are done. Sometimes it is necessary to watch for the trim piece used on some Fords because it will pop out of the door panel and usually end up on the floor on the other side of the car. Also, always work on the passenger door, if you happen to knock the linkage off it won't be that much of a pain for the driver until it is fixed.

the police here in lees summit mo will do that **** for you atleast they did for my g-ma lol maybe because shes old or something one police was like hey take the car to the police station and then we'll try to get the keys out of it shes like what do you want me to do push it he goes ohh yea i was like stupid bacon strip

Thanks guys for the info. I got it unlocked!!!

how did you do it? we want to know!!!!

Start carrying a spare key in your wallet. Thats what I have been doing for awhile, and it has helped me out more than 4 or 5 times! Especially convenient if you have one of those walletes that has the little flap or hanger specifically for holding a key :)
