93 & 96 EB & XLT

I have yet to find a throttle body spacer for my 93 xlt, and I don't think I will. How much increase would I be looking at with one, and how long could I make it without having to get a new intake tube? I know I would need longer bolts for the throttle body. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could fab. one for me for a decent price, or tell me how to make one, and where I can get a chunk of aluminum to do it with. Thanks guys.

I would go to a machine shop and have them make one. I think there is some sort of swirl type thing machined inside the spacer to get some sort of special airflow, so you would have to find out what to do there. Then you could pull the TB off and they could have the spacer machined out of a solid piece of aluminum to match the TB and bolt right up. I don't know about gains, but have heard my buddy talk about one he put on his truck (carbuerator) and he said the air was a lot colder and helped out a lot.

Seriously, the cost would far outweigh any gain in performance. To have a spacer custom made will more than likely run somewhere in the neighborhood of $100-$150.

i got my Performance Products(performanceproducts.com) catalog the other day and they have them in there for 91-94's. Might want to check it out. They were around $80-100. Not to bad at all. Its called the Helix Power Tower

Carb spacers do help out considerably in carb applications. They increase the volume of the intake manifold and separate the carb from the engine heat somewhat. However, those gains do not translate to an EFI (throttle body) application. Your money and time are better spent on something else.
