Help me out I have no idea what I'm doing

Alright.

By December, my sound system should be finished.

I have a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT. I want to mod it some, but I DO NOT want to make it ghetto or gangsta at all. I don't want to lower it and put it on 20s. I'm thinking more along the lines of offroading.

I don't want to spend a million dollars on this truck. I'm thinking $2500 at most with everything.

I know I want to get BF Goodrich All Terrain tires. Now before I get those, I wouldn't mind putting a 3" lift on my Explorer.

What all goes along with this? Can you just pay to buy a kit? Or do you have to buy eveyrthing like suspension seperate?

Also, any other offroad mod suggestions would be helpful, such as lights or anything else that you can think of.

I suggest you use the search feature to find most of your answers.

I also suggest staying away from BFG AT's. I have them and have found that the tread immediately fills with mud and they turn to racing slicks within .000000005 seconds of driving through any mud. Also, they are way overpriced.

you can acheive 5" of lift for under about $250. 3" body lift and 2" TT/Shackle (search for it) and then get rims and tires from there. or you can get a 4" superlift for about $1500 then do rims/tires etc. but as far as anything else you want its your personal choice and money.

The 3” Body Lift and 2” TT/Shackle sounds good.

And I think I'm just going to do minimal things such as billet grille or maybe some offroad lights.

Question though, what off road tires/rims would u recommend?

edit-also what do u think of the k&n aircharger offroad kit?

The Goodyear MTR's, BFG muds, Procomp X-terrains are your good selling streetable offroad tires. Anything Super swamper (besides thornbirds) rock offroad too.

If you stay with an 11.50 or smaller keep you stock rims, that will save you some money.

I'm not aware of that offroad kit though, sorry.

u can make an intake system for about 10$ i can tell u how... i did it, and it works nice. intake is a easy way to get some extra horses. you can also hear the difference when yer on it. also throw a 50 series flow master on there and dump it rather than having a tail pipe...sounds better.. have fun
