2006 Eddie Bauer edition
I actually bought 2 explorers: a 2002 XLT V8 4.6l with 330k and a 2006 Eddie Bauer V6 4.0 with 270k. I cannot keep both. I need to sell one out but I am really facing a dilemma. Which one should I sell? I am in Africa. The one I will keep will be my main car for the coming 4 to 5 years. Should I sell both? The V8 was well kept, engine is very good and no rust. The V6 engine is also very good it had rust that I fixed and put a new paint.

Given only the info provided, they are both very high mileage so reliability can't be predicted, but the edge goes to the 4.6L V8 as being more reliable in the long term than the 4.0L V6.

Should you sell both, depends on what other options you have available. Any vehicle with near 300K mi is not a good choice to put a lot more miles on. For my main use vehicle for the next 5 years, yes I would sell both and get something with fewer miles, but I am in the US and do not know what choices you have in Africa.

EDIT: As RangerX pointed out, the mileage is in kilometers not miles, so I am revising my statement above a bit, that there may still be some life left in either of them.

If both vehicles work fine, then use one, and put the other into storage or give it to a family member. You won't get that much for it so it makes sense to use it. Parts might be difficult to obtain where you are so it might be used as spare parts when the vehicle isn't drivable anymore.

Would that mileage be 330,000 kilometers, and 270,000 kilometers?

Actually I bought both in Canada very cheap but the shipping and customs fees were very high. I need to sell one to recover the money I have invested. Therefore, i would like to keep one. I hear people say that the 4.6l is more reliable but the 2006 is newer. Mileage is not a concern in Africa as we have car s with more than 1 million km. A car that is usually dead in Europe and USA will get a new life here.

Welcome. I would choose the one that is in better condition.
