00 4x4 Mounty
Ok guys I guess no one has ever posted like this before so im gonna have some questions. I just got a 2000 Mounty with 78k on it. I'm flushing the tranny fluid w/filter change next week and im going to get new plugs and wires (motorcraft double plats, motorcraft wires). Othere than exhaust and intake what other mods can I do to it? I know I can put a blower on but im really looking for bolt on stuff.
So far I know of..
-cams
-roller rockers
-blower
-intake
-exhaust
-chip
So what else is there to do? Is there a TB or an upper and lower intake manifold that I can use? What about a MAF? Thanks guys and sorry I'm just new to the 5.0 world.

1- do a search on "throttle cable mod". more than likely the stocker is stretched, and it wont run at true WOT until yo udo this

2- the stock intake is GT-40 lower w/ a "sorta" Cobra upper. leave it alone. mustang guys swap to our intakes all the time

3- the stock throttle body is 65mm. leave it alone. mustang guys swap up to this all the time too. none are made, but an 88-93 mustang aftermarket can be swapped..... ive heard its a PITA though. still, keep what you got

4- go with a 3" single catback

5- a FRPP E-303 cam will make an explorer 302 go nuts. the E cam is pretty small, but the stock xplorer cam is junk

6- chip...... one word.... Apten

7- www.baumannengineering.com get their shift kit. best on the market, period. worth way more than the $100 cost, and one of the best mods ive done to mine

8- stock rockers are 1.6 non-roller. stick with 1.6 if you go aftermarket roller. wont make any more power really, just nice to have something really reliable

9- blower you only have 2 choices that dont require hella-custom work. EE's Eaton or a Powerdyne available at many places

10- anything else just ask :)

Mass airflow???

might as well go ahead with a ProM 80. comes with its own (huge) filter, and there will be no need to ever upgrade it. overkill for a stocker, but you wont ever need another.

Now that shift kit... is that a good idea w/AWD?
