- 00 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0
Here we have a 2000 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 AWD with 124,000 miles. I am the second owner. I want to clean it up and keep it for a while, go off roasting and essentially have a solid rig to keep. I would like some help though. What would you do with it?
Known issues:
*Surface rust on frame, you can see in the pictures if it's something be concerned about let me know. There isn't any rust on the rockers or wheel wells. There is rust on the bottom of the rear hatch and the nose of the hood.
*Suspension feels like crap. It clunks and if I take a bump at any angle it rocks a bit. The rear leafs are sagging too
*Driver side power locks stick, the door handle is broken but not the mechanism.
*Brakes vibrate at highway speeds, not terrible but noticeable
*Needs tires but I don't want to lift it so I'm thinking 30x9.5 or 31x10.5 but most likely the 30s.
*I have added one quart of oil in the past 4000 miles. It ran synthetic it's entire life
*Bad/ticking exhaust leak from the manifold. There's visible rust on/around the manifold.
