tell im it will help you save money on brake replacements and gas.

Brakes, you will be able to delay hitting the brakes till the last possible momment. If by chance you wait too long to hit the brakes, their rear trunk will go under your bumper.

No need to have to give it gas when passing, you can pass over the vehicle. :D :D

How many of us with lifted explorers have rolled our explorers on the street?

It will also take away from the performance of your truck so it will be slower and parents useally don't have a problem with their kids driving slower.

During really harsh snow or ice storms, you will be able to commute wherever! Maybe even end up taking your parents to work if they cannot drive in the stuff:rolleyes:

Lifted is often safer if it is done right, also a better ride.

When you do a suspension lift the suspension is usually stiffened and the wider tires and wheels increase the track width. All new suspension componenets and bushings = firmer ride. This is usually safer then worn out stock suspension componenets.

Just avoid body lifts.

wider tires = larger contact patch = more traction

Bad news, takes longer to stop, gas mileage goes down,

Mine handles so much better with the lift and tires. As 410 said, the key is to balance height and width. I am more top heavy so I have to watch it on corners, but I can hang with a WRX on slick roads :D

410, Just curious, why do you say to avoid body lifts? Did you mean toatally avoid? Wouldn't it be ok with backspacing for a wider stance? There must be a calculation for center of gravity....

If you have to do a body lift and have no other options than do it. It is also a good alternative to spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars for a large and possibly crappy suspension lift.

But with all things considered, if you can do a suspension lift instead of a body lift then do. Suspension lifts give you more benefits than body lifts in terms of offroad performance; a body lift just raises your center of gravity and lets you run larger tires.

Tell them you'll take off your sway bars! You'll be drivin' like Grandma.

thats exaclty it. A body lift fits larger tires, thats it.

Larger tires get you ground clearnace, which is great.

But at the same time the Bl also raises your COG which in an Explorer = bad news for any off camber situations.

A suspension lift almost always increases not only fender clearance for larger tires but it also increases articulation, allowing you to keep more tires in contact with the ground, a better ride, etc.........

Some people like Body lifts, personally the BII and Explorer are already tippy enough for the type of 4x4ing I do, so the lower I can keep my COG the better, at the same time I need all the atriculation I can get out of the suspension and the largest tires I can fit, so I would rather chop up my fenders to clear the big tires then raise the body.......

That's why I got the Perry's fenders instead of doing the BL.

in case of a flood you can help get food to little old ladies, and get medical personnel to the hospital!
