It can be done. But you'll need a complete V8 with accessories (not sure if the PS pump and AC compressor are the same), Complete V8 wiring harness and PCM, I believe the starters are different too. The best thing would be to have a donor vehicle to do the swap from. Then you'll run in to all the little things like heater and radiator hoses, stiff like that.

Swapping different motors is a big job in newer vehicles.
I think your best bet is to not rebuild, but find a local yard and and get a used V6 from them. A reputable yard will offer you a warranty too.
You'll save money in the long run on a used motor.
