Sorry in a rush to leave so didn't check place to post this, but need help with my 1993 2.3l ranger.

It is extremely sluggish lately. Believe we took the cat off so I know thats not stopped up. Changed air filter and did all regular maintenance.

It is sluggish when i try to give it a little more gas than going gma slow. It also made a loud sound and shut off a month ago. I just started driving it back(if i don't im screwed if i do im could mess it up so lose, lose)

Any one think they might know what it is?

Check fuel pressure? Fuel filter should be changed every 30,000 or so miles.
I presume gma slow means grandma slow? I take it to be that the car runs fine at lower speeds and gets balky when accelerating above 45mph? Just a couple of ideas. The "loud sound" you mention, was it a backfire?
