i have a 95 4x 4.0 beautiful clean paint and interior smells good and all electronics work..i just got it used a year ago.. before i had a 4x modified ford ranger so you know i am kool i used to "ford" creeks . recently a bad storm hit my area and i had to cross a flooded road
the water not high enough to reach the running borads
the truck stalled due to big rig wake.. so water hit my intake and the filter
was soaked. the truck was in 4/w auto... questions? when the truck was in 4w mode and stalled does the transmission reset to 2w.. so to continue the story
i towed the truck to my house. i remember that it was very hard to shift out of drive into neutral after i stalled took off the filter and dissconnected the wires from the harness and had a mechanic check the oil "no water" then the transmission fluid"no water" the check was done looking at the dip stick.then the mechanic said that he will tow it to the shop and take the plugs out turn the motor.when he did the motor did not turn..could my motor be dead ?? he said that a rod may be bent. the qoute was high for both used and a new engine..could the engine be hard to turn because of some thing else? can i my self repair this with a rebuild kit.and the right tools will a 5.0 hook up to my old computer?

It could be still stuck in gear. It may have partially rusted due to the water intake. Run thin oil into bores through the plug holes and let it soak. Then try again both ways and that may free it off. Else it's take off the heads and look. Hope this helps a bit. It's tough when this sort of thing happens.

I did this, and I think i fried my transmission. Too early to tell, but we just changed the oil, took the plugs out, spun the motor, and started it right up, no probs whatsoever.
