Ok, this is a pretty dumb question and I feel bad having to ask (searched briefly and couldnt find it). I'm installing a amp and sub on a stock system that didnt have the premium sound. I'm using an rca converter thats spliced in with the back speakers. The last thing I haven't figured out is the nearest good place to run the remote wire to that gives power on and off with the car. I know I could put a switch in but I'm trying to avoid that. I had about 10 switches I turned on and off with my last car and don't like that idea again. Thanks ahead of time.

You can run it off of the ignition wire from the radio, or find a fuse that is controlled by the ignition and tie it in on there.

green/purple or gray/yellow in the ignition harness (just remember to fuse it)

is those wire colors you said the same for a 99 XLT? i am doing the EXACT same thing today and i tried what was supposidly the ignition wire and the battery wire (i found a wiring diagram online) and neither worked. Would the fact that i have a 6 disc changer in there affect anything at all?

What I ended up doing was getting a fuse tap from radio shack, and using a fuse location that was listed as "not used" in the owners manual. It turns on and off with the car and less wire running.
