ok long story short... my fiance's jeep broke down last week. So she is borrowing her parents 03 explorer 4.6... Took it camping and halfway up north we stopped and it wouldnt re-start.

I climbed under it to tap on the starter and saw that the wire to the solenoid was broken off.... I just set it back on the pole so it was making contact and it started right up...

So we continue on our drive, I'm thinking ill just have to climb under and hook the wire up when we stop, no big deal. Near our destination I notice the battery light is on and the charge meter is going down... lights get dim as we pull into our camp. Battery is now dead.

Here's the question, could the solenoid wire not being connected cause the alternator to not charge??? I'm planning on getting a ride to a parts store for a terminal end to correctly re-wire the solenoid, then get a jump start.

Any ideas??? Help quick!! thanks guys

Welcome aboard!! :salute:

I would definitely start by re-connecting the wire properly.
