long story short, i have oil coming out of this hose that comes from my engine to the air filter pipe.(sorry have no idea how to describe it). There is oil cakes on the right side of my under carriage and my air filter is soaked with oil.

What am i in for? Is this going to be an engine rebuild? Someone told me PCV valve maybe.

Need some help guys, Thanks!

I'm assuming its coming from your valve cover breather tube going into the Air intake , When i had a Blown head gasket on my 4.0ohv it pushed oil and water into my intake tube as well , Ended up buying a Jasper Motor with 55k miles and had it installed in 2004 , Sounds like you have a Blow back issue , but not certain on that , maybe someone else will chime in and see if they know more about it , Good Luck

I would try a new PCV valve first.

I just got back my 2011 Explorer from the dealer. I discovered engine oil in the air intake/air filter assembly during my routine maintenance checks. I took to the dealer since it was under warranty (50K miles on it) and the service manager told me he had not seeing this issue before - I trust this guy whom I have dealt for the last ten years. I left the the truck for their diagnostic and he called me the next day.

This issue is outlined in Special Service Message 44354. "2011-2013 Edge, Explorer, MKX, Taurus, MKT and FLEX - 3.5L/3.7L (Ti-VCT) - Oil in the Air Intake. Some 2011-2013 with 3.5l or 3.&L variable cam timing engine built on or before 3/31/2012 may exhibit engine oil in the air systems may be caused by an accumulation of oil in the left hand valve coverbaffle migrating through the fresh air intake carnkcase ventilation (PCV) system. Oil on the ir flter or oil at the electrocnic throttle body may also be observed. Valve cover BR#Z-6582-M has been released to resolve this concern. Residual oil in the intake air system damage and can be removed using a clean rag. Use available service labor times for left hand valve cover repairs. EFFECTIVE DATE: 13-JAN-2014".

All the work/parts on my truck were covered under warranty.

You can always go to any parts store and buy a little breather element filter like I had on mine in these pictures. You just cut the tube coming out of the valve cover and clamp the filter onto it. You need to either screw a big bolt into the hole in the air intake or get a rubber cap and cap off the vent tube right at the air intake.

This will keep the oil out of the air filter and away from the MAF (mass air flow sensor). You may want to replace you PCV valve (driver side valve cover in rear) as well as clean the MAF.
