- 2008 Explorer XLT
I have inherited (sort of) a 2008 Explorer XLT with...issues. Codes say all of the O2 sensors are misbehaving. I've bought two downstream and two upstream replacement sensors BUUuuut...I can't find where to, ah, stick 'em. All of the advice and videos I can find are for other years and/or other models and trim packages. And nothing I can see underneath looks a thing like what I'm seeing on YouTube.
I'm getting the impression that these 4th gen Explorers aren't the most popular. Just my luck.
I did say "inherited" didn't I? I used to do, many years back, a lot of DIY repairs (Chevy, VW, Mazda, a Peugeot (!) and, yes, one Datsun) but cars have changed a LOT in nearly 4 decades. Is it even worth my while to mess about with it with some jack-stands, a 7/8 wrench, WD-40, and a socket set? Am I really going to have to remove the center console just to get at the passenger side upstream sensor?
