I am going to have my new focals installed this week and I want it to go well and to look good. My only problem is I dont know where to mount the tweeters. The a-pillar is too pointed to have a good flush mount, and the area right above the power mirror switch isnt deep enough. What can I do? I really want to do a fluch mount rather than surface. thanks for the help. I tried to put a pic in here but it didnt work.

How deep are your tweeters? I mounted mine here, without any problems of depth.

Some other suggestions would be in your vents. A few members have done that without any problems with airflow, etc. Another suggestion would be to buy some kickpanels. There currently is a member custom making some kickpanels that he would sell for $100. Do a search for kickpanels and you should find his thread.

Can anyone tell me to post pics up the new 2002-up have different doors and dash. I wish I could show you guys. I've heard about a few people putting there tweets in the vents, but i kinda want those to be open. Thanks

Email me the pic and I can post it. Otherwise you can post it yourself. You just have to have it posted on the web somewhere, then you right click on it, select properties, highlight the entire address, copy it, come here, click the IMG button up there^, and paste in the box that pops up. That's it. Piece of cake. And if I do see pics, then maybe I'll have some better ideas for ya.

Well I just went to Ford.com and checked out the 360 degree view they have on there, and if you don't want to put them in your vents, and there's not enough room in your pillars, it looks like you are pretty much stuck to do kicks. I don't see any other place, but somebody else might be a little more creative than me. One place you might not of thought of, even though it's not flush mounted, is the top corners of your windshield. I had my tweets there in my last car and I liked the way it sounded.

Hey ShadowA2J, What is your e-mail address? I'll mail those pics to you. My email tofast2pass@yahoo.com

Oh yeah, I should have added that earlier. It's b_faulk@msn.com (don't forget the underscore) Also just so you know, at the bottom of this post is a button that says email. If you click it, you can send me an email that way.

I was just thinking, what is behind the panel that is right above the mirror switch? is it metal? What if I drilled out a hole in the actual door, that way depth wouldnt really be an issue. Would that work? I was told that the best sound would be to angle the tweeters directly at me, is that true? thanks

Since your door panels are different than mine, I don't know what exactly is behind there. On mine, there is just space. You'd have to see what was behind there, if it interfered with your window, wires, or something else. And I've found that angling the tweeters right at you is best.

Well here's your pics. I think they might fit better under your mirror adjustor. Without seeing your panels off, I can't tell you for sure.

thanks for posting the pics maybe this will help some?

you could consider putting them in your center console like where the hvac stuff is (but that sucks for imaging- i considered this, but when i was going to do it i also would have had another set at higher power at the perimeter of the sound stage)

i think you either need to look into kickpanels (i have the fiberglass ones- i don't think any more are goiong to get made here though) or else think about flush mounting them into the dash facing the windshield and using the windshield as a reflector. if you have a head unit with time control or don't mind working a long time to tune the system for imaging that could be a good option.

one more option would be taking what shadow said about mounting them in the upper corners of the windshield one step further- and mounting them there, but cutting into the plastic surround a little so that they sort of disappear.

and finally, don't count out the ceiling. the plastic around the edges of the headliner could be a good choice and will provide fairly good imaging (although possibly sort of strange and no where near as good as kicks would be)
