We had an ice storm last night...after all the ice melted off my Exploder, I found that the windshield leaks right on the drivers side. It soaked the headliner, visor, dash and my seat. I tried to start her, and she was hard to turn over. I noticed that the wipers were going, and I tried to turn them off. Even though it was in the off position, they were still trying to clean my dry window. I thought about pulling the fuse, but with all the road spray going to work, this wouldn't have been wise. I guess all the water some how worked it's way into the steering column and shorted the wiper motor out, but why would they just not turn off? I still have the intermittent wipers as well as well as the slow and fast working.

Any one know what I might need to look at to get the damned things to turn off? Is the motor fried?

...it could be fried or it could be the water is carrying the current from the hot lead to the wiper control in the column....you might search for multifunction switch...good luck...:D

You've got to fix the leak

... and you have to let everything dry out before you can assess damage. Ford trucks (not just EXs) are infamous for leaky windshields and some really weird behaviors. A friend of mine runs the maintenance shop for a large fleet of Fords used in construction ... he reports that when wet, some late model Ford PUs have a problem with the lights flashing and the horn blowing when it's wet out!! (Never mind the ignition shutting down!!) Turns out the windshield leak flows right onto the PCM and makes everything go whack-o :)

I hope your symptoms go away when everything dries out like happens with all the others.

Ok...I forgot to repost after everything dried out. All seems to be ok now. The wipers work normally now. Will be fixed that damned leak ASAP!!!!
