Help needed can not get rear wiper to work.

Can any one tell me where to get a wiring diagram.

The owners guide shows a different fuse box under the bonnet from

what I have.

What are the relays for under the air box?

It is a 99 north face.

Any help appreciated

Colin

Auxiliary relay box

The box under the air filter enclosure is the Auxiliary Relay Box (ARB). According to my 2000 wiring diagrams the ARB contains the rear washer control relay and the front washer pump relay.

If you PM me your email address I will send you scans of the appropriate 2000 wiring diagrams. I can't send attachments via PM and the scans are too large to post. If I shrink them to fit then you can't read them.

As a start, check fuse 8 (15 amp) in the Battery Junction Box. Also, check fuse 12 (7.5 amp) and fuse 26 (10 amp) in the Central Junction Box. Make sure the Door Ajar light is not illuminated. There are two liftgate ajar switches (left and right) that will disable the rear wiper.

Search the forum for rear wiper or something similar. I remember a very good thread about explaining the common problems.

The quickest and easiest thing to check is the plug right at the motor itself. (You'll need a multimeter, and a digital one is best.

Accessing the motor is easy... Remove the rear wiper arm. Pop the window and remove the cover and screw from next to the latch. Open the tailgate and remove the two screws from the grab handle. Pull the trim on the top and sides of the window opening to disengage the clips around the window. Then, push the trim panel towards the roof and be careful it doesn't hit you on the head. ;)

Then, close the tailgate and flip the latch for the rear window to the closed position (leaving the window open). Turn on the key and flip the rear wiper switch on high. Check for power between the BK/LB wire and the WH/OG wire in the connector. You should see alternating +/- 12V (or there abouts) in the connector. If you see one and not the other, you have a bad relay. If you have neither, we need to start digging.

Yes, it's easy. I've done it no less than a dozen times. I just did it again earlier this week. I took a bunch of pictures this time, so I'll put together a 'how-to' soon.
