I'm not really sure how to do this and was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a '97 Explorer. I want to pu these in there instead. Thanks.

First disconnect the socket from the bulb then reach in there and twist that gray thing that locks the headlights in place pull the bulb out, reverse process to install.

Yeah, the only hard part is twisting the lock ring off b/c the space is so tight behind the headlight. I put the same bulbs in my truck and I'm pretty pleased with the results (even though the drivers side high beam crapped out in just 2 months, but I took em back and got a new pair so now I've got a spare riding in the truck with me)

I remove the battery and the air cleaner to change the headlight bulbs. Big old hands need a lot of room.

I just bought new headlights and had had one crap out within 1 month, ouch. $14/bulb.
