Help with front shaft u-joint

I need to know if I can remove the 2 front shaft and reinstall the wheels so I can run the truck. I need my truck tomorrow nightand I will later change the u-joints and reinstall everything.

Also what do you suggest for u-joints to replace the ones I have, they lasted 4-5 years .

The answer to my question is YES. I removed the 2 front shafts and put some plug in the diff.

My next question is, how do I remove the stub shaft on the right side? Is their a pin inside the diff? My Haynes manual doesnt talk about anything on this and I would like to chnage the u-joint on this one also.

There's a C-clip inside the diff that holds the stub shaft on, so to remove it, you have to drop the pumpkin to get at the c-clip. Some have been successful, with choice words and careful finagling, at changing that u-joint with the stub shaft on vehicle.
