Help With Mounting Kit on a '99 Explorer

Hello,

I'm sorry to ask this question, but does anyone know where I can find all of the available mounting kits for an aftermarket head unit on a '99 Explorer?

I know the Wire Kit and all might vary from an Explorer with a Premium Package and/or MACH audio, but when I went to look for mounting frames for a normal sized-DIN, the only thing I found had a "compartment" on the bottom. Specifically, this mounting kit from Crutchfield.

On Scosche's website, I didn't really see anything different. On CarDomain's store, I came across this which looks to be just the pocket.

Does anyone know of one that would basically be just a piece of plastic the size of the stock radio with a cut-out in the middle for a standard-sized head unit?

The only ones I've ever seen are the ones with the storage slot.

That's what I figured. It's not that I mind the storage slot, it's just that I already have the two on the console. I only carry my cigarettes and lighter so I can't really use the ones I have now.

My question then is did you guys get the one from that Crutchfield link, (the whole assembly), or the one from the CarDomain link, (just the slot).

I bought mine from Crutchfield.

Try Curcuit City, Best Buy & even Wal-Mart. It will be cheaper from one of them as opposed to Crutchfield.

I think I'm going to get the one from Crutchfield too. I was going to buy 2 sets of speaker adapters as well as the installation papers. Actually, someone is buying it as a gift for me, thumbsup: ), so I'll ask them for that one.

Anyway, I was just curious about what was available and all. I was kind of hoping for one without a slot, but at the same time, it certainly isn't a big enough reason to get upset about - so to speak.
