Last week I changed my battery on my 1996 six cylinder explorer. Today I went to get it smoged and the test failed:
My check engine light is not on so I took it in to a mechanic and I told him the situation he said to drive it for a few more miles at a steady speed to reset the computer and to come back so he can hook up a diagnostics tool to see if the computer has reset yet.
Not messing around I went out and drove 50 miles and brought it back in he ran the tests and the computer has not yet reset, he also said that there were no error codes and to keep driving it.
I need to get my explorer registered on the 8th I don't have time to drive it around and hope it's going to work.
Does anyone have any suggestion? Would it help if I disconnected the battery again and try to start all over?
Thanks in advance.
