Help! Wont Shift Into Second!!

Well heres the problem, I was driving the interstate a few days ago and when i got off the interstate i noticed that the OD Off light was flashing, and on my way through town i stopped at a red light, and when i accelerated the engine revd up to 4k/rpm and wouldn't shift into second, i released the gas and it then shifted into second, so far i have done the following, flushed the transmission, replaces the filer and gasket and replace the TPS to no avail, I just lost my job and need to find work again but i cant go to work with a car that doesn't work, and I'm pretty much broke and cant afford to take it to the shop and have them look at it and cant afford a rebuild or a new trans. Please Help!! 1995 Ford Explorer - 195,000miles, 4x4, A/T, 4R55E TRANS

Welcome to this forum! Start with having the codes read. This will tell you what the fault was. Not all scanners are capable of reading manufacturer specific transmission codes. The flashing overdrive light is equivalent to a check engine light for a transmission.

Just because the light stopped flashing, does not mean there is no code. There is probably a code saved in the computer that can be pulled. Most transmission shops have free road test and multi-check (which they scan for you). Might not be as big a problem as you think.
