how do u remove the input shaft on a 2006 mercury mountaineer automatic transmission, is there a tool,??????

If the transmission is a 6R60 the input shaft wont come out, its attached to a drum, you will have to tear the transmission apart to get it out.

If you have the 5R55S the input shaft should just pull right out, sometimes its a little tight but it should come out without too much fuss.

someone took out the old engine and torque converter , and it pulled the input shaft out to far, it doesn't seem to tap back in and I read u have to take it out and put it back in to the transmission, except the bell housing is attached and I'm lost .
