my 92 explorer is running ok but every time i try and punch it the explorer gets up to about 3000 RPM and then it pretty much stops giving power. It is impossible for me to get it past 3000 RPM unless I am going downhill. At 3000 RPM I have to shift to 2nd but it doesnt leave it enough power to really gain alot of speed. Does anyone know why this is happening>?

It`s auto then I assume?

I`m stumped, I believe there is a limiter of some sort but 3000 seems a little low.
Maybe my post will bring this up again for ya!

Here is a tip. Make the subject of your post more than just Help. Many folk just pass over those cause there are so many just help. Get the right folks attention try some thing like

Help Will not exced 3000 RPM.
Other wise my only thought is to check tranny fluid level.
It is a pretty intresting delema.

Exhaust system restriction? Converter or muffler could be stopped up.:fart:

i always thought the rev limiter wasn't til redline? which on 2nd gen's is 6000 on the SOHC
