I know there are Air Bag helpers you can use on pickups to help with sag and smooth the ride (also to keep level while towing etc). Not a full setup, just a helper one that can be installed with the leaf springs and filled with air at a gas station to a level you want.

I know Firestone makes them, anybody know where i oculd get that for an Mountaineer? I have sagging in the driver side rear and front, had new shocks but doesn't help. Searched on here but didn't find anything for helper bags?

This works for the rear but what about the front? Tortion Twist the only way to get a little of the sag back to normal? to get back to normal.

If you don't know what I'm talking about;
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi-bin/suscon/air_bags.html friend has them on his GMC 2500 and not only does it drive much better and smoother then stock, if you put a heavy load in or towing you can adjust the air

you can TT the front and get 1.5 - 2 " the back would be cheaper to get Add-A-Leafs or longer shakles. i have seen the air suspension, it can get expensive if u want to get all the gauges and the air compressor and stuff

The ones I'm talking about are simple, like you just use a compressor at gas station to fill to a level you want, just fill till level out and leave as is should also really smooth the ride out like it did for my friends pickup (absorbed bumps much better and rebound was like a sports car so you didn't get that mushy truck feeling). Only reason I didn't want to add a leaf was I saw people say it gave a weird feel like the drivers side reacted harsher to bumps and the road.

oooo ya for got about air shocks, they way he explained it it sounded like what i was talking about, i have seen cheaper models of the air ride that u can fill with air at gas station, air shocks are probably cheaper and easier

if you gotta inflate and deflate them, i would not bother with them, maybe if they ran off a small compressor i would get them, thats just me, i would like to know how they are tho.

I wouldn't care about the deflating, I don't tow with this truck. Inflating them all around to get the truck even/level again and not sagging like a 90yr old grandma :D, ok its not that bad, but noticeable and it irks me seeing the truck kinda ****eyed.

Think 4 all around would work well, its only sagging in the right rear and somewhat in the right front, left side is fine.

ya i guess if you only had to do it once wouldnt be bad

i will hopefully be installing some sometime soon. I have seen them in action and have heard good things about them.. I guess they make the ride much much better, and the handling is awesome with these. We installed them on a 2wd s-10 ad the guy could not believe the difference. He uses it as a work truck, and he says suspension wise you cannot tell that his equipment is back there. I really think i'm going to try some, since i need rear shocks anyway...

I think the sag is pretty normal for Explorers. I call it the "Explorer Ghetto sag" Alot of people will just replace the right rear spring pack with a left rear spring pack from a junk yard truck. You can also switch your rear spring packs L to R, R to L. It will also help the front. I guess. My Old van had the Air Shocks, I just never knew it till I got rid of it. That would also work though. The reason for the sag is because of a few things from what I can understand. One is the Gas tank. And the other is because the driver side is always occupied when it's driving. I've been thinking about doing something like that for a while. It's a Cool Idea.

Were you talking about the Monroe Air Shocks?

Personally I would go with add-a-leafs or shackles. With air shocks you will have lines that leak. I had a 65 Mustang that someone before me had air shocks on because the springs were shot. I had to air them up weekly. Not worth the hassle IMO.

Probably one of the old crap sets though, everyone I've spoken to loves the Monroe Air Shocks, I know my buddy has him on his truck for over a year now and no problems and he tows like crazy.

A friend did add-a-leaf and shackles, rode like crap, was like the driver side was stiffer then the passenger side, and gave the truck a weird balance when hitting bumps or driving. I'll get rid of the truck before I do that. Least the air shocks will get it level all around and even smooth the ride more which I don't care about.
