this is the exhaust I put on my X its a magnaflow 3" in 3" out duals right in front of the rear tire. I had the same set-up on my 2003 ford f150 supercrew 5.4 and I liked the sound, but holy crap it seems a lot louder on the X its has a nice low rumble when Idle and its mean sounding, at highway speeds it has a nice tone to it, I pulled the resonator out too, and all it all stainless 409 and I tig welded it all I have only one clamp on it, right at where the y-pipe comes together

That looks cool! Might have to do something similar to mine. I have always loved side exit exhaust.
Reminds me of the exhaust I had made for my Trans Am (no longer own) with a Dynomax bullet (glasspack) muffler... You can see the pipe in front of the rear tire:

first timei have seen someone run the exhaust in front of the rear tire. are you going for a street look or off road? if your going for a street look then look for a set of running boards like the ones i have and cut the board to follow the exhaust. if you like the way they look let me know because they are sitting in my shed. they just didnt look right with the lift

I like the look it has now with the stock running boards I don`t plan on changing it, its different, I didn`t want every one else has on there trucks:D

that exhaust side exit is illegal in CO and CA, not sure about everywhere else, pretty sure federal laaws restrict you from dumping the exhaust anywhere before the end of the passenger cabin. On our SUV's this means the back of the vehicle since the passenger cabin is to the rear lift gate.... just FYI

good luck!

Also dont idle long with your windows down!

yeah I ran the same exhaust on my 2003 f150 for 3 years I live in town and I have never had any state troopers and city cops mess with me so we are a little more relaxed in michigan:D

Illegal in Massachusetts, and New Hampshire as well. Pretty sure all New England states are the same. All exhaust must extend beyond the rear wheels unless the passenger compartment ends before the rear axle.

looks pretty cool. hope you dont encounter any large obstacles tho. i'd hate to see such good work get banged up. do you feel any loss of low end torque from running such large pipes?

thanks, no I didn`t feel any lost of torque but sure revs quicker, yeah I rarely ever take my truck off road, so I shouldn`t have any problem with it getting all banged up, I did consider that, when I was in the process of deciding, what I want to do with the exhaust on it.

looks good u should get sound clip of it
