Here's a head scratcher (electrical issues).

Ok all you exploder fans. I have a 96 xlt explorer with a 4.0...The wipers only work with the engine off but ignition on. the dome lights and engine compartment light nothing and the 4wd nothing.These are all on one circuit in the fuse panel.I am lost. nothing has happen they just stopped.The fuses are fine. the truck and all other electrical work fine. ant ideas?

were would I find this function switch. this is driving me nuts.
 






daaaa never mind. I know what your talking about. the blinker switch
 






the wipers work when the ignition is on. as soon as you start the engine they stop. The 4wd and dome lights and power windows are none working.I know all these are on the same fuse and the fuse is good. Could it be a relay under the hood? I'm lost.
 






Sounds like there might be a problem in the GEM module or the its wiring.
 






were can I find that? Would that be the one behind the stereo on the left side?
 






I think I'll clean all the contacts and check the grounds.I think this might be my problem.
 












try "scratching a meter" instead of your head... :-) you don't know whether you are chasing a ground issue or a power issue. By all means, clean connections but while your at it, check things out to see what the "root cause" is.

This thread may help but remeber it is a uk spec so fuse and gem locations may be different
