New to this Forum. My 2000 5.0 185k Explorer hesitates around 1100-1300 rpm under light load give it some gas and the problem goes away. 2 different mechanics say plugs and wires are good but can't find any problems other than a misfire code.
Maybe someone has some info before I waste more $$ at a different mechanic.

Check your ground connections. I have had this problem on another vehicle and it was caused by a really corroded ground connection from the battery to the frame.

Further to what Jeff123 said: go around all your grounds with a multimeter to check for resistance.

What you're describing sounds like a vacuum leak.
Also check/clean the idle control valve and MAF

misfire code could be your issue, Could be a vacuum leak, Bad wire, Bad plug, or bad injector. Check engine light is alway first place to start. 5.0's are also notorious for the right manifold cracking and leaking. Check your egr tube as well. Just had a new tube valve and manifolds on both side replaced and she runs like a new truck
