HEY guys whats up? im in auto shop right now lol, and im rebuilding a 1996 ford explor engine. under neeth the oil pan's right next to the crank there is an engin balencer. it hooks up to a lil chain on the timeing, and i cant find any information on it, i have all data acess and i cant even fidn it on there. im basicly looking for the part number and the part number for the screws that hold it on, because they got misplaced, and the balencer is shot. any information you guys could give me would be great. i was told this is the place to go, if i neded any info on explorers, so lets see if its true!!!

Thanx agen

Balancer?

Can you be a bit more accurate? Under the oil pan? next to the crank shaft? attached to the timing? This makes no sense.

First off if you are looking at the timing chain you are no where near the underside of the oil pan.

Are you talking about the sensor mounted on the front of the engine, that reads the harmonic balancer? The balancer is mounted on the front of the crankshaft, which turns the serpentine belt and has the timing marks on it.

This would be the crankshaft position sensor and you must get one from your 98 model year, if this is the case.

Also WHICH ENGINE? haha the 98 Ex was available with 3 different engines.

its a 96 V6 OHV. Look at his vehicle info in the handle and also he says its a 96...i put the two togehter lol. But as 410 said, t-chain and harmonic balancer are at the front of trhe engine.

sorry type-o, 96 not 98
