Figured I would break down and say hey.

I currently have a 99 Exploder and am fixing to give it to my daughter and I am thinking of getting a Ranger of the same generation, but am concerned with .gov bumping all fuel to E85 this year and what it will do to earlier fuel systems. But this is a discussion for another page.

Welcome! I don't think its all going to be e85. I thought i heard they were making it 15% ethanol. That's only 5% more than most every station, if not all, already sells. Take a look at a pump, they almost always say 10% ethanol, or something. 5% may cause minor wear over 10% I would guess, but it surely wouldn't deter me from buying an older car.

Well ya, that is what I intended to say and how I was thinking it. They are bumping it from 10% to 15%, 85/15=15% ethanol. Anyway, the way I understand it vehicles built prior to '07 are going to have issues with rubber/plastic parts in the fuel system because of the alky. I know when I bought my tiller(Troy Built) the optional engine was a Honda and it had a big red tag on it that said "DO NOT USE FUEL WITH ETHANOL"

i bought a pressure washer hat had the same tag on it luckily there are only about 3 stations out of prolly 25 lol around here that have 100% gas its a few cents higher but i dont mind paying for it when i get fuel for my harley or p.w. oh yeah welcome to the forum

We have two that advertise ethanol free and they run about a nickel higher. I wonder how much 10-15% fuel would be if they were not getting billions on subsidies from .gov?

welcome
