Hi I'm Rob. Just got a '97 Explorer. I'm based in the Midlands, near Tamworth.

I love driving it and even got a wave from another Explorer driver! Very chuffed. I'm 23 so I've already sold my soul to the insurance company!

I have, however got a weird dull scraping noise from the front when I drive. If I jack it up the wheels turn fine with a tiny bit of brake contact noise but when I'm driving I get an annoying "wib wub wub" noise. Bearings seem okay, I've refitted brake pads and changed the discs. I'm not sure it's anything terminal because there's nothing noticeable when I try to spin the wheels. Any ideas?

Welcome,

I had this happen to me. There was a lump of rust between the hub and the disc, causing the disc to not run true. Solution was to remove the disc and get out the wire brush clean the face of the hub and the inside of the disc.

Hi welcome..whats with all the aerials ?? same yr ex as mine (:

The fold-over one is my CB whip. I use it for comms when I go off-roading with my mates.

Good idea about the rust. I'll check it out today if it decides not to rain.

I got the car for £370 on ebay! I practically stole it.

ello and welcome :-)

Looks like got a real Bargain there

Welcome Rob - seems a bargain to me as well. Nice colour scheme - perhaps I am biased as it is the same as mine.
