I'm trying to figure out how to go about putting some HIDs in my 2002 explorer. I know I need 2 kits cause I want everything to be the same as it is now just brighter. I need the 9005 and 9006 kits from DDM Tuning to achieve what i want.

The question I had is would this put alot of stress on my alternator/battery and charging system or should I be fine.

HID kits actually draw LESS than stock (35w vs 55w). You'll be fine.

Thanks for the help. guess its time to start moddin up this truck the. Got some nice plans for it.

I have a Linc. MKX that has 9005 high beams and HID (that I installed) low beams. I didnt use the HID for high beams because they dont fire up quick and they are on/off a lot in daily driving. HID for high beams just is not too practical for a high beam.
But, you want a high bulb that shines brighter than the low beams or there isnt much use for the highs. Enter...the HIR bulb. With a little trimming of the bulb base they fit right in and are as bright/brighter than a 100watt bulb at only 65 watt amp draw.
I bought these bulbs about three years ago and used them in my previous car and transferred them to the MKX 6 mos. ago. They do last awhile and dont need a harness for the OEM wires.
If you have the Smart Junction Box pulsed lighting then I would recomend the following to get your HID system from as they supplied me with a harness w/caps. & resistors that fit the Lincolon perfectly. Not sure what your system takes.
