a bunch of people on this forun should sign a petition for sylvania xenarc HID to make a whole headlight housing for explorers. is this just wishful thinking or is there a chance at this happening. it would be really nice to have those HIDs, and many explorer owners would buy them due to our inadequete headlights

i have tried, and im sure others have to, by emailing sylvania.. i just got a email saying they were not going to produce because they didnt feel the demand was high enough.

I think I heard somewhere that the Xenarc was not very good in terms of beam pattern? I forget which board I read it on though.... anyone else know?

I was going to put a Catz HID kit into my Explorer, but decided I was selling the car. The kit looked very nice and maintained both high and low beams.

Catz just raised the price on these kits, but http://www.liteswap.com still has them for $525 !

its crazy that they say the demand isnt high enough, why would they make one for F150s, i bet they would sell more for explorers anyway.....its is the most popular SUV (not to mention that our current lights suck)

the problem is, more people modify their f-150's then modify their explorers. Sorry to say it but 98% of the people that own an explorer could care less about the headlights, they care more about cargo area for groceries and a smooth ride for granny. Not saying its right, thats just how it is.
Regarding the sylvania's, I love mine and I'd never go back. The beam pattern is awesme, install was easy as hell, well worth the money. I think it'd be nice if they made them for the explorers too!

Matt,

you know what you need? you need those chrome/yellow signal bulbs :) It would look sweet in those clear corners.

magnetic1, those arent special bulbs... it is lightly misting the yellow bulbs with silver paint......

and i have to agree with mat.... let say all the members on this board owns 2 explorers.... thats roughly 30,000 explorers..... now how many explorers were built between 1990 and current day 2003? that 30k isnt even that big of a number to ford.... or the other companies out there as well to warrant them to spend major money to make aftermarket headlights for the explorer..... the demand for the f150 is there... and that is proven, thats why they have them... and we dont......

The Zenarc kits are only made for a handful of vehicles as it is, the Explorer is not going to be the next.

would it be possible to put F150 HIDs in an explorer, or am i talking crazy:confused:

while your not talkin crazy, it'd be a whole lot of work... I offered up a set of headlights from an f-150 for free a while back to anyone who could make them fit it an explorer, but have since sold them.

the stock housings are extremely weak... I know there was someone on the f-150 board that used his stock headlights but put the 9007 HID kit in, and said his ligting was WORSE, just because of how the light bounced off the lens.
