You can limit the front drop with limiting straps or chains, but it sounds more like a problem with not having the pinion angle set up properly.

There are A LOT of rigs out there with massive amounts of front rise/drop that run traditional dshafts and ujoints without breaking them.

i have straps and i use them. i know there are trucks with front drop that will mess with your head. so i can not figure out why this is so difficult to do. i took the ex to a drive shop that has been there for over 30 years and they said that for a 1330 yoke the stock spicer off the 91 94s are all i will get. so i am stuck. there are one for a **** load of money but you know how that gos.

Is it a wedge style D44 with Ford radius arms? Do you have pipnion correction shims installed?
I assume this is a low pinion D44.

it is a 78-79 d44 high pinion. i have tom woods 1330 u joint on the bottom. i did find a store in AZ that has a large angle cv joint, its called the bad boy jr and it looks to work. i have not called them yet so il have to see. the only thing is that it is $325 that is more than i am willing to spend, but i might have to if it works right. im still serching for some thing cheaper or better. il keep this page informed. if you hear of any thing let me know.http://www.arizonadrivelines.com
