- Expensive German Stuff
As per an earlier recommendation on this board, I finally ordered some high temp Mastic from www.mcmaster.com and installed it over the weekend. First of all, this stuff is the exact same thing as regular Dynamat, just without the Dynamat label. Second of all, this stuff is awesome! For $25 I got, delivered to my door in two days, two sheets of the stuff which was enough to do all four doors with enough left over to do all the pilars and some other misc. areas around the car. Here's the part #: 9709T18.
The primary reason I got it was because when my midbass hit, the plastic moisture barrier in the boor would buzz. The Mastic completely eliminated all of that! Not only that, but the car is much quieter now, and the doors close with a nice solid *thunk.* This stuff is really easy to work with too, just trace the outline of the door panel onto it, cut out some holes in the center for the speaker opening and the door handle, peel the paper off the back and stick it on.
Anyway, highly recommended! One of the best bang-for-the-buck improvements to your stereo, I think.
peace
