hissing sound

my '02 sport makes a strange hissing sound that i notice after i shut off the engine and get out of the car. it sounds like its emanating from the passenger side of the engine, near the firewall. could it have something to do with my a/c? i'm not sure, but i think i notice it only after a/c use.

Mine do's the same, just a short hiss, am certain it is the A.C, but you being in the land of rattlesnakes, might be best if you did some more research

Yup whenever i get out of my 97 after having my A/C on it makes a hissing sound... you hear it for about 20 secs..

My 97 5.0 makes the same noise, I'm pretty sure its the A/C too.

mine does that same thing.. pretty loud.. it goes away when i hit the gas.. it sometimes helps when it's in park too but i dont think its my AC because my AC is never on and it always does it.. could it still be the AC tho? this is the most annoying thing i have in my car that i need to fix...

It's the pressure in the a/c system equalizing.
