Is there any way to patch a hole in the rubber surround of a subwoofer? Mine seems to have had a hole pierced in it from something I put in the back of my explorer. It's got some tape on it that works for now, but probably won't hold for long. Any suggestions? :dunno:

ok i have done this many times since it is rubber u wanna look for eather some duct tape or i used whats called lineset tape. Whitch is basicly wide electrical tape.... works great

Silicone sealant on the backside might work as a temporary fix.

I have seen that work for years at a time.

Parts Express sells surround replacement kits also.

I had the factory JBL sub fixed a couple years back, cost me like 35 bucks.

Ok. i have been working on car audio for years. Sorry, but for an OKAY fix you need to pull the sub out of the encloser....just unscrew it and pull it out slightly.....I used silicone on one of my Diamond D3's. You can also use Shoe Goo if you want....all the same thing!

That happened to my sub. I put tape on it, but as it continued hitting the hole just gradually ripped more and more.

If it was me I'd just get a whole new Sub, I'd get a cover for it also, so the chance of it cutting again will be less likely:)

i agree with this. silicone is your answer as long as the hole isnt too big

Since it is a cheaper sub, I agree with the silicone method. I think if you put electrical tape on the back of the rubber, then fill the hole with silicone, then cover that with electrical tape it should dry up nice and smooth.

Can you post a pic of the hole, and then when it is fixed?
